Question about Sable Balls

captnemo Mar 31, 2008 12:22 PM

I was recently offered a Sable as a trade deal, but haven't been able to find much info about them. I'm looking to find any info on how their genetics work (I believe it's co-dom, but I'm not sure), as well as the market value on them (just to know what kind of deal I'm being offered. Thanks in advance.

Sables are a codom. There is a super form. I am not a big fan of the really dark snakes, but to him his own. It is according to if you like them or not. Not sure where the value is, I saw one this weekend in Richmond VA show but didn't pay attention to who had it or the price. What would you be trading it for?

I have a pair of Sables, because I like the Super. They are Co-Dom, with a few double morphs being made. I have heard the Sable Pastel is ugly, but have heard the Sable Spider is cool. I think the Sable bred into Vanilla and Fire type animals might be cool, and that is my plan eventually. Value, depends on the animal in question.

Thanks guys. Passed on the trade after digging up some more pics...I like some of the lighter, more unique balls better for my taste. Thanks again for the input.

Maybe this will change your mind. Forget about the color...you can always fix that later (vanilla, fire, etc.)

I think the pattern is where it's at.

This is probably my favorite of that clutch.

Mine are all a little bit more "granitey" than most, but this one has pretty typical color. As you can see, they have a little irridescence to them that the lighter ones don't. I think the Super Sable's even more irridescent...and the pattern is definitely way cooler.
