Denting in eggs?

lichanura Mar 31, 2008 04:18 PM

This is the first time for me to breed pythons. My female Aru GTP laid 15 eggs yesterday. I am seeing some denting in some of the eggs just 24 hours later. The humidity is plenty high and the temp is at 86F. My question is, is this denting normal? Thank you.

Some denting is normal... Caving in is bad...

I personally think the denting in my pic below is normal denting... This pic was from day 3 and they still look the same 2 weeks later...
How do your look compared to this?

Thanks for the response and the picture. It puts my mind at ease some. I think mine look very much like yours, but maybe dented a little more. My setup is very similar to yours. I have water in the same container that the eggs are in. The grate holding the eggs is over the water. Off course, the eggs are not in water. I have a lot of condensation in my container. thanks again.

I also have about 15 gallons of water in an open tub directly below the egg box shown... This keeps the entire incubator at about 80-85% humidity... You may consider doing this to help get rid of some of that condensation... Too much condensation can cause problems especially if the water hits the eggs...

Thanks for your advice. I think that I will try your method of humidifying the eggs. There is no water dropping on the eggs but a lot of condensation in the container. I see more denting in today. I do not like this, however the eggs look fine. The color is right and their size is good.
