Love snakes?....just look to the sky....

I realize this is very corny and off subject, but i couldn't help it

These are some pictures of the Aurora Borealis taken from Fairbanks, Alaska.

The Aurora formed a perfect "S" in the sky...what are the chances??

A couple more photos taken by my husband. This was on top of a mountain at 2:00am in the morning. The temps were about minus 20 F.

That is really pretty! I was lucky enough to see a small glimpse of them a few years back in MN. Very rarely to they ever make it down here. Way cool!

Unfortunately I didn't. I didn't know they were going to happen until they were already in progress. Then I jumped on my bike and rode to the park to get out of the street lights. It was really cool, but I heard it was way more intense about an hour earlier.

Maria -- thanks for sharing the "off-topic" snake picture and other pictures. It's always great to see such stuff because not only is it off-the-scale beautiful, but it also makes one feel humble -- and the world as a whole certainly needs more humility these days!

Now, if we can only manage to breed thayeri to exhibit those auroral shades of teal and aquamarine . . .

Tom....thanks and I agree! The photos only capture a small part of this. Viewing the aurora in person is one of the only times in which I literally had no words. The whole entire sky was lit up with colors and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed. A huge serving of humble pie to say the least.
