mouth rot......

dadspets Mar 31, 2008 08:38 PM

I asked a few days ago about mouth rot symptoms. I have a normal male ball tha got mouth rot from pushing on his box trying to get out for breeding season. He got a pretty big lump on his upper right lip. Well I used a mix of Betadine/water mix for a good week and 1/2 now. He was blowing bubbles and opening his mouth after I would give him the mix. I was worried about maybe a r.i. but I will have to say I believe it was him reacting to the medicine. It is all cleared up and after digging the rotted tissue out of his upper jaw he is looking a 100% bettter. Hoping this will help someone else out.

I don’t think that was moth rot , sounds more like a abscess ,a localized infection . Mouth rot would have involved the hole mouth and is called (Infectious Stomatitis) Ulcerative Stomatitis ,if you look it up on the web. There are several good sights that wave good photos to help you identify if it was mouth rot or some thing else , but it normally takes antibiotics as well as cleaning to cure it . Thanks David
