Incubating eggs- new idea

Upscale Apr 01, 2008 06:50 PM

This is a great idea for easily incubating eggs. You use a door draft guard and coil it around the eggs just like a momma python does. These are 34” long and filled with tiny insulating beads. It helps maintain the perfect temps and humidity levels. Think about it, it is a natural simulation of a mother incubating her eggs naturally. I don’t have any pictures yet, but these are available online for $9.99 each. It’s a good deal for trouble free egg production. Check it out.

“Filled with tiny insulating beads, this flexible barrier blocks breezes from drafty doors, keeping chilly air out-to keep you cozy! Hangs over doorknob when not in use. Pretty 100% cotton floral print cover is filled with polyethylene. 34" long x 2" diameter. Made in USA.”

Happy April!

Do Kingsnakes wrap around their eggs in the wild like pythons do?

I have a book that tells how to make a very nice incubator with a large glass jar, a cut-off leg of pantyhose, water, and a lid with air holes in it. The eggs just "float" in the pantyhose hammock, a good four inches or so above the little amount of water in the bottom of the jar. Humidity is reported to be about perfect in it. I have no experience with it of course, but I'm curious if anyone's tried such a setup.

I put ALL my snake eggs(no matter what kind) all together in a five-gallon bucket with a lid securely placed on top, then gently lower it down by the handle into the middle of a "REAL" python's coils and let her do all the work for me.

if you can keep the door draft guard from getting moldy it would be interesting to see what happens. tell me how it goes, I love incubation experiments!

Just open up the draft guard, empty out some of the beads, and refill with moth balls-that will assure that your eggs will never get to the point of being attacked by mold!
