My 5 month olds eat about 50-60 crickets a day, they are huge eaters, because they are still growing. They also get collard greens and pellets. I think you may be WAY low on the cricket thing.

Mick just gave me an idea....
I have an old RCBS electronic scale that measures in grams or grains. I think I'll measure and weigh a few crickets of varying sizes, and see if I can get an idea of what amount my dragons are actually eating.
After all, a 1/8 inch cricket can't be anywhere near the belly-full that an adult cricket would be... And it'll be interesting to see what the weight difference is from one size to the other.

They eat 1/4 to one half inch crickets. They eat about 15-25 crickets per feeding, and they have at least 3 feedings a day...maybe 2 would be ok, but I feed everyone 3 times a day. Your dragon that is used to such small amounts of crickets of course would not be able to eat a bunch all of the sudden. Just like dieting people your stomach shrinks when not getting a lot of use. I am not saying that your dragons should be eating this many...thats what mine eat, but they have always been given the choice to eat as much as they want. I do think that yours should be getting more then you said you are feeding though...at least 10 a day. some people think that pellets are ok for complete nutrition, but they are still in the experimental stages. I have asked many times about the research that has been done on these "complete diets" and I have not gotten ANY answers form any of the companies making them. I just hear...trust us...they are OK! Just my opinion. I never feed my 5 month olds less then 40 crickets a day though.

You are not feeding him nearly enough. He's eating the pellets so much cause you are starving him on the crickets. Offer at least 20-60 crickets a day in two feedings. and a bowl of mixed greens and pellets everyday.
