Feeding veggies in sand

zag Aug 29, 2003 09:58 AM

I'm going to try my female beardie in a playsand substrate. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can put her salad in the cage so it won't get covered in sand by her movement. I thought about making a higher level that she could climb onto to get to the plate. Thanks for any help. P.s. she loves to dig!

what we do is have an area with no sand with a plastic lid that is a plate for the food. the BD has to be able to see the food to know its there so dont make the bowl deep. after serving her in the same spot after a while you could try raising the bowl and she should recognize that that is the magic place where food appears.

I have a cave I made with a flat top. I keep the dish on top of it so it won't get full of sand.
