Egg Laying Question

aalomon Apr 02, 2008 12:06 AM

Yesterday morning my snake started laying, however she only lays one about every 12 hours. The first three were slugs and the last one was good. I called my vet and she said that I should only bring her in if she goes 36 hours without laying anything. This seems a little long for me and Im getting worried. This is her (and my) second season and last year she didnt have any problems. Any ideas? Should I call another vet?

a little late for a reply

.....eggs laid early are usually dead or duds......

eggs laid late are dead or duds.....

the whole clutch should be laid all in a timely fashion.....should be within a couple hours actually....

eggs laid later ......will be dead, even if they were good before...

...I never go to a vet..did it once and he killed the girl and made her have more pain and suffering and shock trauma than any snake I ever saw......

.I aspirate myself and usually get the stuck eggs out.....

.If there are just a few eggs left.let her alone.keep the nest box in there and keep her warm......she should get them out within a few days...remember they will still grow inside her and will then be more stuck....

.....let us know.we'll help......vets suck at times......##$$$$.

Thank you, I ended up not taking her in. Overall it took her 3 days to lay a total of 13 eggs. Only three look good now, the rest were slugs. Do you think only the one laid on the first day will be good?

usually if it takes a while to lay... only a few of the first ones will be good.... but thats most of the time... not 100% of the time....
