Why !!

dsreptiel Apr 02, 2008 01:01 PM

I was just wondering what it is about me that some of you like to pick at my spelling and grammar so much , Is it that maybe you can’t find fault in what I’m saying so you find it in how I say it . I have give the explanation for my faults several times over the past few years and each time I stop posting for a wile for what ever reason when I come back there are some new people on here that don’t know me and they start this same old stuff . Well if all you can do is pick on others faults then you must feel awfully faulted inside and don’t wish others to see it .we have all made errors on here some more than others lol. But they are not made intentionally . So unless you are perfect what give you the right to down others ,and if my errors bother you so much don’t read my post any more . It will not hurt my feelings one way or another ,Just wont to pass on lessons learned and to help others . Thank you ,David

Friendly debates can always be taken wrong, especially when we can't hear eachother's tone of voice.

I love my fellow herpers!

Have a nice day, David!!!!!!!! Sorry if I made you feel bad.
Wasn't trying too.

Can you find the error in her reply to you? Everyone makes mistakes.

yes I can

dsreptiel Apr 02, 2008 01:27 PM

You didn’t make me feel bad ,just tiered of when people can’t find any other fault in what you say they have to make there self’s feel better some how so they find it here they can .have a nice day as well . David

David,
Your same logic could be used to ask why you care what others think. It is obvious that you can and do spell better at some times. Just take an extra moment to re-read your posts, you will probably catch some errors yourself. Maybe even have someone else read some of the posts to make corrections.

Some of your posts are funny though. Are you the same guy who had a monitor cruising his keyboard and causing some typos, now that was funny!

Take it easy David, Mike

dsreptiel Apr 02, 2008 01:43 PM

No that wasn’t me I don’t think ? But I do remember a Kenyon sand Boas doing that once LOL. And I wouldn’t take personally if there comments didn’t state it as if it was to them . David

This is for anyone out there who has difficulty spelling. Try using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. It has more functionality than IE.

One great feature is the in browser spell check. Whenever you type anything into a form (such as in forums, "contact me" pages, etc.) Firefox will automatically spell check your work. If you happen to misspell a word it will be underlined in red. You can then either correct the mistake or highlight and right click the word and a number of spelling options will appear for you to select based on what the browser thinks you are trying to spell.

Give it a shot. Usually I'm thinking faster than I can type and make several spelling errors at any given time. Over the years this has not only helped my typing but also my spelling.

I'm not putting anyone down, just trying to find a helpful solution.

Thanks David

Great suggestion. Firefox helps my spelling a great deal, and I do think anyone with a spelling problem should use it.

HydraZulu Apr 10, 2008 01:10 PM

Reason 958,156,254 why everybody should switch to firefox. I may be biased, but firefox seems faster than IE, and i've never tried anything else, except the AOL dial-up, and i blocked that out, because it was too traumatic.

I just CANNOT STAND typos. It drives me nuts when I have to read through something an adult wrote, that my 8 year old daughter could have written better. HUGE pet peeve of mine. Possibly the biggest. But that's just my own thing. And really, who the f*** am I?

JESpythonz Apr 02, 2008 06:54 PM

why do you have to pick at everyone elses faults. So what if he has typos, get over it!! I think you have better things to be worrying about than a few mispelled words but I might be wrong. Maybe your world is pretty small and that's one of the only things you have to worry about. Stop being a jerk and pointing out everyones bad points.

j3nnay Apr 02, 2008 03:09 PM

because this is the internet, and if people didn't pick at your spelling, they'd be picking at something else - your favorite color, the way you wear your hair, your sexual orientation, your taste in music, boxers or briefs...anything!
I've actually seen people get into huge fights online over all of those things. The boxers vs. briefs fight had me on the floor I was laughing so hard.

But hey, don't feel too bad - I made a mistake worse than misspelling a few words. I managed to bleach only the roots of my hair, and the rest of my head is a nice, bright, neon red.
Talk about Oops!

I managed to bleach only the roots of my hair, and the rest of my head is a nice, bright, neon red.

Sounds pretty cute, actually.

j3nnay Apr 02, 2008 07:32 PM

It could have been cute...if I hadn't decided to go through with the rest of the original plan - dying my whole head purple (bleaching goes first because the purple is more vivid on blonde hair).

There's no pictures of that aftermath. After a couple people burst into laughter upon seeing my hair, I refused to let anyone take pictures, lol. It has since washed out, and now I just look kind of wierd.

Here's a camera phone pic of the result right after I finished washing out the bleach - I was still somewhat in shock that I could have done this to my head.

And a few weeks later after the purple mostly washed out:

And the best part is that I'm stuck like this for a little while longer, because if I try and dye again too soon, my hair will end up damaged enough to fall off.

Awwwe, your roots look fine. From the description I was expecting a disaster, which you are faaaar from! :P

Love always,
not Mike Bell, lol

j3nnay Apr 03, 2008 09:30 AM

It looks much better now than it did when I first did it. The camera phone didn't do a very good job of catching the red.

It really isn't too bad now.

I was expecting something that would make Bozo the clown proud of your handiwork.

You must have too much time on your hands to even think of doing all of that anyway. You need some more snakes to occupy your time.

Mike

j3nnay Apr 03, 2008 09:35 AM

The purple would probably have made bozo proud, but there's no pictures of that!

Unfortunately, snakes cost more than hair dye, otherwise I probably would have gotten more snakes instead...

ahh don't worry about your hair falling out, i get the urge to go blonde sometimes too, i just grab the heavy duty stuff and let it soak for 2x what the bottle recommends. hair might feel like straw for a while but it wont fall out, check out my picts of when i've gone blonde.

David,

The people who make the inconsiderate remarks are the stupid ones - not you. Some people think they can hide behind the internet and make hurtful remarks without remembering that there is a real person with feelings on the receiving end of the remark. The internet has an anonymity to it that gives some folks the courage to say things they would likely never say in public. And the ones that abuse this are truly the ignorant ones.

Hey if you want to hear hurtful comments, you should see what some folks feel they can say to moderators LOLOL

As for the spell check, upgrade to IE7 Pro and it has a spell checker built in. You activate it in preferences. The Firefox one is good but I really like the IE one.

Just a personal 2 cents from the "stupid" moderator LOL

tragic8ball Apr 02, 2008 05:04 PM

I was actually just venting about that to my gf the other day

I cant stand when people feel the need to tell people they need to improve their spelling and/or grammar. I understand that for some reason it gets to some people but its quite rude to actually point it out.

I could understand if it was in some sort of technical conversation and someone was to use a word that implied something else and someone was correcting the spelling to avoid confusion for others or something like that but otherwise I think its extremely rude.

I think it should be more acceptable to have bad grammar or spelling vs being a rude sob and it happens on every forum I have ever been on unfortunately.

btw I too use Firefox and love the auto spell check it has. I type too fast and I'm horrible about using apostrophes and lower case 'i' and it helps me catch them.

JeffFlanagan Apr 02, 2008 05:15 PM

I think it's at least as rude to not spell-check. Why annoy people with terrible spelling when the technology exists to make your message much more readable?

dsreptiel Apr 02, 2008 06:12 PM

I really would like to thank every one for there comments and I do think that it is not so bad that someone has not been able to understand what I was trying to say . But I am sick of talking about this know and we all need to move on , and I will strive to do better but when I get excited and trying to hurry it will undoubtedly happen . But I’ll keep trying . Thanks Davd

pitoon Apr 03, 2008 10:24 AM

don't worry about it, i've been seeing great improvments in your posts! keep up the great work!

Thanks . Written communication is the hardest ting for me . David

HydraZulu Apr 10, 2008 01:18 PM

My policy is: If people can understand what it's supposed to say (teh=the), then i leave it be, and only change the ones where nobody can tell what it should be (fslfeaw=waffles). If they don't like it, they can suck it up. That's what works for me, and i haven't had any complaints.
