Was trying to post pics of my trio!

jamesalternafan Apr 02, 2008 03:55 PM

I can not figure out the image hosting. I wanted to put my trio up to see what the forum thought regarding one of the snakes that does not look like others from its locality. In my fairly limited scope it does not resemble other river rds and is more like the black on gray posted earlier. Can somebody please help me post images?

Anyway, I have a pair of rivers just like them.

Great looking alternas. Sure look like true River Roads to me. The top one looks identical to one I found in 87 in the "mud flats" of river road. Are you going to breed them this year? Thanks for showing the pics.

jamesalternafan Apr 03, 2008 06:13 PM

Yeah it would be my first time ever hatching a clutch but I am trying to breed these and a pair of Knoblochi I have. I am hoping it all works out for me.

shannon brown Apr 03, 2008 06:31 PM

Good luck with them.here is one of mine.

p.s. she is gravid right now also.

I am hoping/assuming mine are gravid as well but I do not know the signs to look for.

it will be a little hard to see on yours since they are so fat anyways.Just watch for swelling in the last 2/3 of there bodys. There scales should seperate allot and when they go into the blue it will be the pre-lay shed.

Shannon,

I was wondering if this is a locality female, or generic Davis Mnt.?

Resembles a scout male that died under a friend's care. He was of course much more vibrant while alive...

shannon brown Apr 04, 2008 12:22 AM

the one I posted is a locality male.is that what you are asking.

jcraft75 Apr 04, 2008 01:46 AM

I was referring to the gravid female, and by locality I meant something more specific than Davis Mnt. (1832, observatory, limpia, etc.)

shannon brown Apr 04, 2008 10:59 AM

the Gravid female is a river road.
I don't have a gravid Davis.Sorry for the confusion.I was refering to how similiar mine looks to his.
But the speckled baby I posted is a pure observatory cut animal from a w/c male that my buddy and I found and a f1 female that Ric produced. Its the only egg that was good last year so maybe better luck this year.

My bad, that snake looked so much like the Scout I had caught, that I assumed it was a Davis Mnt.

Good luck with the next breeding.

Dude! The "observatory cut" is in the Davis mountains.

alternater Apr 04, 2008 05:11 PM

Musquiz canyon, Limpia canyon, observatory cuts, Indian Lodge cuts and Boy Scout Road are all Davis Mountain localities.

shannon brown Apr 04, 2008 05:41 PM

Yes,I know all the cuts. You guys are mixing up two snakes I posted.I posted three animals for a guy cause he didn't know how to post. Then I replied with a river female that is gravid and looks like one of his. Then I posted a Davis baby.

Hope its all clear.

Hey Shannon. My posts are for the other guy. I thought he was the one that didn't realize Boy Scout Road and obervatory cuts were both Davis Mt. localities. I'm well aware that you know all the localities. Nice greeri photo by the way. BA

jamesalternafan Apr 04, 2008 09:20 PM

No all my animals are river rd. I don't have any Davis Mtn.

alternater Apr 05, 2008 11:11 AM

No-no-no-no! I was directing my post to Jkraft not Jamesalternafan and not Shannon. Sorry if I confused anyone, I was just trying to help. BA

LOL,, o.k. we got our wires crossed.
Thanks Brad

I am aware of all of the Davis mountain localities, I hunted there almost exclusively. The snake I was referencing in my original post was Shannon's gravid rr. I mistook that snake for a Davis Mountain because of the similarity to the deceased Scout male that I posted a photo of.

Should be clear now.

Sorry I misunderstood your post. It sounded like you were saying you're scout alterna and Shannon's observatory alterna were similar but that you did not realize they were both in the Davis's which would explain they're similarity. My bad. Was just trying to clarify. By the way, that scout road alterna is a pretty hard find. Congratulations. How about posting a photo? Which month did you find it? BA
