shed scale stick in nostril?

mldolan Apr 02, 2008 04:51 PM

or whatever its called on a snake... it looks like a partially shed scale stuck in one of my BP's nostrils. it seems to be bugging her she rubs that side of her head against the glass sometimes, and its driving me crazy.. like seeing a booger hanging out of someone's nose. tried a wet q-tip, even tweezers but you can guess how that went with a head shy BP. seems lodged in there pretty good. anyone seen anything like this b4? if so what did you do about it?
thanks
Mike

If it doesn’t come out with the next shed and you are uncomfortable removing it then take it to the Vet . David

put a bit of vaseline or mineral oil on it, twice a day, and if it doesn't come off on its own the first day, use some tweezers to gently tug at it. it is most likely lodged in there, not actually stuck down to the underlying skin.

you could also try a one hour soak. if you catch in the first day or so, moisture is all you need.
