OMG, what have I done to myself?????

rainbowsrus Apr 02, 2008 05:44 PM

I used to think waiting for my BRB litters was a long hard wait!! Now I've stretched out the waiting for litters to almost double what it was before!!!! It's only April and I'm already pacing and checking cages frequently!!!

The culprits...

Candy is at POS + 98, she's a Pastel CBLT (Crcle Back Ladder Tail) bred by Reeses, my stunning 2005 Summit reptiles Pastel Salmon.

Cinnamon, not sure on here but she may be due very soon, she's illiterate and didn't read the manual. A very nice Salmon bred by Pepper, a nice normal male from basically boas aby line.

Ruby is at POS + 72, she's a Coral Albino bred by my porn star Motley brothers Heath and Nestle.

Spirit is at POS + 67, she's a pos Super Ghost bred by another pos Super Ghost.

Taffy is at POS + 48, she's a DH Sunglow from Barry Berg, bred by Dagwood an Albino pos het Stripe.

Crystal is at POS + 40, she's a DH Snow bred by Fireball, a TH Snowglow.

Vanilla is at POS + 28, she's another pos Super Ghost, also bred by the porn star Motley brothers Heath and Nestle.

Amber (I think this is her POS), she's a Super Salmon pos Jungle, bred by Snickers, Salmon pos Jungle and also had one of the Motley boys in there for a while, will have to wait and see.

Sierra, Albino pos het snow bred by Toffee, Anery pos het Snow.

I'm still taking tons of pics of all the growing future breeders....

Akoya, one of the darker pearls

Baroque, the stunning male pearl

Dot, one of my Will Bird acquisitions

Dotty, from Mike Lockwood a slow grower, from 2004 and still gonna be a virgin. At least she's stopped her fast and is now eating again. Loves mice so six at a time for her!!

Genevieve, the striped "hypo" darkened up a whole lot for a hypo but still cool striping.

Harriet, another of my Will Bird acquisitions

Apricot, the most colorful of the pearls

Pearl, the other stunning female pearl

Pistachio, the other male pearl, he's one of the darker group

Good luck with all your pairings this season looks like things are progressing well.

Yeah, even though the waiting sucks...
The anticipation and guessing what you're going to get is exciting. Kinda like a kid at Christmas.

My breeding year has been wierd so far. I'm expecting my brb's before me bci this time and some of the bci that bred heavy early on didn't seem to take.

Like you said though, it all a blast!
Every year is a learning experience and is better than the last.

rainbowsrus Apr 02, 2008 10:22 PM

Exactly, like a kid waiting for Christmas and wondering what exactly you're gonna get. Don't get me wrong, I do love the coin the others will bring in but those few keepers IMO are worth more to me. Every time I pull Melanie and/or Pebbles out they take my breath away!!! The BEST perc of being the breeder, keeping those top one percentile babies. The ones no-one else ever sees, the ones that are never on the market!!!!

Hope your breeding year turns out well for you!!!

Yeah I know what you mean. It is definately much more rewarding to breed your own special, favorite and unique animals rather than just to buy them. I've got a few things that I never saw in person until I had hets produce them right in my basement.
My leopards last year are a good example of that and I still can't leave those guys alone. Don't know if you saw the more recent pics that I put on the boa forum a while ago but they are growing up nicely. To top it off I just had a second female het leopard from a different pairing ovulate for me! So if I'm lucky I just might get two unrelated litters this time around.
I also just got an ovulation from a ball python of mine just the other day so this will also be a first for me having something lay eggs if all goes well. I have always kept boas exclusively but in 05/06 bought a couple of balls to kinda try it out. It oughta be a learning experience for me. Now I just gotta build an incubator.

ReneeValois Apr 02, 2008 06:41 PM

LOL, I was even gone for a week on vacation, took the family to disneyland. Some of the pics were from just before we left and most are from roight after we got back....lotsa cages to clean and lotsa shed snakes.

Dottie is a hypo and a stunning one at that!!!! Now if I could just get her to eat more!!! I think the mouse thing will do the trick, once I started her on a mouse only diet, she';s been eating regularly, she just don't like them rat thangs!!!

The room has been on hold for the week and will get back to it as soon as I can, have the walls, insulation and sheetrock up. Still need to tape, texture, paint, and trim. Also do the final electrical, boxes are there and wire strung but no outlets etc.

Some of those Boas are very close but according (others) to their POS on some they are a bit away and Ambers (I think) POS isn't listed even though you think you know it.

My Dumeril does that lump on top of her body position as if she is lifting that one particular section off the hot spot. I couldn't imagine the pacing going on!!!

I am impressed you even have time to answer questions on this forum like you do. Don't spread yourself too thin!!!

Your a maniac!!!!

I also believe you spend ample time with your family as well. You seem like that type.

Wow, I hope you let us know when you'll breed him. Where did he come from?

rainbowsrus Apr 03, 2008 06:19 PM

He's part of my "Genesis" group. a year ago a "striped hypo" came up for sale as being born from a WC gravid female. I ended up buying the WC female - Eve, the striped hypo - Genevieve and all the siblings (5.2 normals) . Since then Genevieve has darkened up and I'm thinking she's not hypo althought the stripe is wicked. The whole group of babies are a little dark except for Thing, he's like the single rose in a weeded over lot.

Eve...

Genevieve...

Morticia...

Wednesday...

Gomez...

Fester...

Thing...

Recently being male heavy in the project, I sold off two of the male siblings.

Lurch...

Pugsley...

Maybe next year but I suspect it will take one more year, they appear to be late winter babies so would be just a little too young for next year.
