Finally! *update

IcyWolf Apr 02, 2008 06:18 PM

i just wanted to update everyone on the post i had made a few threads down about the burm that wasn't eating. well, after what i believe was almost six months, he finally took a large live rat lastnight without any problems! i was so excited i even woke my room mates up to tell them... they weren't quite as happy about it as me lol. i just wanted to thank everyone for their help and i have one last question. Would you guys recommend that i try to give him another in a week or should i wait two weeks? i know he has to still be hungry and should probably take one in a week but i didnt want to put a strain on his digestive system since he went for so long without eating.
thanks again!

Congratulations!!! I know how frustrating it is to have a snake that refuses to eat. I used to have a male boa that refused to eat for almost a year to the date, then he starting eating again like nothing had ever happened.

I would wait a week or so and try feeding him again. If he refuses I would wait at least another week or so. Once you get him eating consistantly I would try some of the suggestions you were given in the other post to get him over to f/t.

Good Luck and I'm glad things are starting to work.

Glad to hear the good news. I'm glad your roommates didn't bust you giving a dead rat a bath. Hahaha!

I agree with Randy, wait a week and feed it again, only this time I would try to feed it two large rats instead of just one. I feel that a 6.5-footer should be eating two large rats about every 10 days or so.

Thanks for keep ing us posted.

Take care!
