pinky mice ?

jag Aug 29, 2003 10:25 AM

Well since Sunshine might be preg. I bought a pinky for her lastnight. But yes she didnt want anythignt o do with it. I got one for winky too and nothing. Are pinkys like butterworms. Some like them while others dont? I have tried once before also and she didnt want any that time either. She just smells and licks them. Is there anything I can do to try to have her eat them?

if she has never had a pinky in her life then she won't really know what to do with it. i scent pinks with a lot of mealworm guts and leave it in the mealworm dish overnight...don't feed anything else. by morning, the pink should be gone. this has worked well for me.

yea, some leos like them and some dont know what to do with them. My female loves them. On the other hand my male just licks it and plays with it. I say leave it in with the mealworms too.

Superworms I find are VERY good for putting some weight on, but they're arent fattening. I fed my leo pretty much nothing but them while she was gravid, and after 8 clutches shes still 75 grams, didnt lose any weight at all. They make a great staple and I would really recomend them. Unlike mealworms, the calcium dust sticks to them well and be sure to dust EVERY FEEDING now that she might be gravid. They also get the leos attention well, cause they're HUGE! They get around 2 2.5 inches long.
You could also try waxworms, but not too much of those. Those are really fattening, so you could give her some of those say after she lays. With the pinky, my leo sometimes wont eat them either, but if you leave it in overnight mine usually eats it after realizing thats all shes getting. Hope this helps,
Mac

Yea, when i went to feed my leos their first pinky they wouldn't eat it either. I just covered it with crix/mealworm guts and they ate one right away. Try putting guts on it and putting it in the mealworm dish. Katie
