Breeding questions

gypsy1dragon Apr 03, 2008 03:45 AM

I really haven't figured out the concept of het completely yet, so here goes the questions.

If I breed charcoal het pewter to amel, uknown het would I get blizzards in this clutch or then have to breed their offspring?

amel and anery unknown het, same principal, snows in first clutch or have to breed the offspring normal het amel het anerys together?

charcoal het pewter to charcoal het pewter, maybe some pewters in first clutch?

ghost to ghost? All ghosts?

Who would you breed hypo het lav male to? Amel, normal wild caught (if in fact she is female) ghost, charcoal?

Sadly, we lost the hypo het lav female to a freak accident over the summer, I still can't believe she is dead.

So sorry for all the questions, but the more I read, the less I understand.

Thanks for humoring me.

"I really haven't figured out the concept of het completely yet, so here goes the questions.

If I breed charcoal het pewter to amel, uknown het would I get blizzards in this clutch or then have to breed their offspring?"

>>You would need to breed the offspring in order to produce blizzards and possibly some White-out's!

"amel and anery unknown het, same principal, snows in first clutch or have to breed the offspring normal het amel het anerys together?"

>>Would need to breed the offspring!

"charcoal het pewter to charcoal het pewter, maybe some pewters in first clutch?"

>>25% of the clutch should be pewters, the rest would be 66%poss. het. for bloodred!

"ghost to ghost? All ghosts?"

>>Yup

"Who would you breed hypo het lav male to? Amel, normal wild caught (if in fact she is female) ghost, charcoal?"

>> the only thing i can say about that is to look into the morphs you would like and the genes you have and then make a plan to get yourself there! Check this site out vwsherp.com !

"Sadly, we lost the hypo het lav female to a freak accident over the summer, I still can't believe she is dead."

>> i hate hearing about this kinda stuff, brings back sad memories!

So sorry for all the questions, but the more I read, the less I understand.

Thanks for humoring me.

Have to breed the offspring to get blizzards.

amel and anery unknown het, same principal, snows in first clutch or have to breed the offspring normal het amel het anerys together?

Again, normal looking in first clutch-breed those together to get some snows.

charcoal het pewter to charcoal het pewter, maybe some pewters in first clutch?

yep-should get pewters in the first clutch

ghost to ghost? All ghosts?

ALL ghosts, yes "

Thanks for the feedback. It is definitely a labor of love. Have to weight a few years to breed the first clutchs, then have to let those grow up. It will definitely be fun to see what I get.

First of all - genetics become much easier if you use the terms correctly.

There is no such thing as "charcoal het pewter" - pewter is a multi gene morph, het is short for heterozygous and refers to a single gene pair.

charcoal het diffuse is the proper term for that snake.
Some might say charcoal het bloodred - but I believe the gene that causes bloodred is now being referred to as diffuse.

I know a lot of people will say "charcoal het pewter" or "amel het snow" or "anery het ghost" but it very incorrect, and it makes it more difficult to figure out your possible outcomes.

Learn how to make a punnet square - understand a punnet square and you will understand almost all the corn morphs.
