I have just got my first royal python, I have experience with Iguanas but this is my first snake.

I brought her home a couple of days ago and after a hour of investigating her new surroundings she disappeared in her hiding box and hasnt come out for 48 hours....should i be concerned?

In a normal british home is a heat mat sufficient heating for a hatchling type plastic viv?

well, under tank heat is fine ASLONG as you control it, i got a rescue that came with everything it was living in, and when i put my thermometer in the with a probe, i found his hot spot at 130!!!!!!, i went to home supply store and purchased a lamp dimmer, prefect heat now, and yes it is fine that he/she is hiding, thats there nature.
