if she is willing 2 years is usually enough.I let them decide when they are border line (300 grams min).If they plump up (ovulate) I let them breed.

Hi Mike,
You can also wait until a little later in the season and allow her to grow a bit. We had one last year that was not cooled that started ovulating in June and produced a nice clutch. We do wait until the third year for most of them. We do not use a certain weight or length because they are all different, but I do agree with Shannon in that they will let you know if they are ready by ovulating to point that they look like a blimp.
