When I got home from work today I noticed my female bearded dragon looking more colourful than usual. She was yellow with a park purple/black throat. Normally she is a reddish colour. I thought she might have just been mating with the male we keep her with but her eyes look quite sunken and she is quite lethargic. When i picked her up she was sick. We tried her on some different salad today could she have had a reaction to it? The male is fine. I keep getting her to drink regularly incase she is dehydrated. We also think she could possibly be gravid. Any ideas?

Probably best to have a vet look at her.

Those certainly aren't typical of gravid females. Since it seems to come on so suddenly, I would think she is either allergic to something in the salad or it was toxic for Beardies. What all was in the salad? At any rate, throw the salad out and take her to the vets.

Unfortunately our bearded dragon died yesterday. We took her to the vet first thing in the morning as her condition had deteriorated overnight. The vet seemed to think that she had septicemia, possibly from and egg that had ruptured inside her and there was nothing that could be done for her

Thanks, we're really gutted. She was a fantastic lizard. Our male seems quite sad (or maybe I'm paranoid). We're keeping a close eye on him.
