ok sorry about that, for those who spent the time and couldnt find my last postings. i was wondering about my male hudini, he has been loosing weight in his tail lately and i think it might be from too many lady friends i have been watching him and making sure he eats and he still is pigging out so i dont think its loss of appitite but i have been trying to squeeze out one last clutch of the year from him and had him with 5 females and now rotated him to the last 5 females b/c the first five are showing eggs. could this be the cause of his tails weight lose?
and i was wondering if anyone knows the state of florida webite where i can apply for my florida breeders licence. and the last question is that i know mark bell's company is reptile industies and i know its in fort myers but i cant find his website, does he have one?
thanks for the help,
Garett

I think your male is only interested in breeding since you have all those females with him all the time. He is probably burning all the calories while mating and does not have enough fat to store in his tale. I would keep him by himself and forget about any more breeding. You do not want him to get weak and sick. He needs to rest up and fatten up his tale.

the male shouldn't lose weight while breeding since all he has to do is mate with the girls....that's it. i think he may be intimidated by the large number of females and it could be stressing him out. put him in his own tank and give him a rest for a while...also, go easy on your females....they aren't egg machines and will die if you get them gravid too often. if the females have already had one season this year DO NOT BREED THEM AGAIN until next year. also, get the male checked for parasites, internal parasites may cause leos to lose weight even tho they eat.

Producing eggs and the whole process isnt just stressful for the females. It is also for the males. Granted he is still eating but he is probably losing more weight by getting "Action" then he is really putting on. He is probably stressing out. I would seperate him for the season. There is no point in making him do so much work, but yet making him sick at the same time. Males need time to recoupe just as well as the females. You would be tired to if you got it on with 5 females and you had to live with them at the same time...right. Let him relax for the rest of the season. You would get more viable sperm that way too.
