Roaches and watering needs...

MikesMonitors Apr 05, 2008 11:43 AM

I have noticed a few folks using water dishes(drowning hazard), water crystals(expensive gelitin) and other methods.
I find the BEST results by just lightly misting at night.
It dries by morning so there is no chance to harbor any other bugs like fruit flies and such.
Just at thought...it has worked for me for over 10 years!

I'm too lazy. Misting every night would be a a pain =)

I use water crystals, which are quite cheap if you buy them un-hydrated by the lb. I think I paid $17 shipped for 2 lbs of water crystals and I have barely used a couple ounces in a year.

I don't breed hissers anymore but when i did I gave them apples and oranges cut in half. Apples and oranges are great food and enough to keep them hydrated. I found that misting too much or crystals caused enough moisture for mites to thrive.
