gravid P.l.lineaticollis ready to pop

ginter Apr 05, 2008 07:59 PM

This girl is looking quite uncomfortable for the past week or so. She looks to be really full of eggs!

Once laid the eggs will incubate at normal colubrid temps for over 100 days! The first time I experienced these long incubation times I was really getting worried and wondered if the breeder had lost them. When he finally called to tell me that the first ever lineaticollis breeding was successfull and the eggs had finally hatched I just about jumped for joy.

The camera angle and lens type seem to have diminished her 6ft length and massive girth.

100 days is normal for that ssp? Wow! What's the average clutch size? I know lineaticollis can get pretty big. In the pic you can get an idea of her girth and the eggs in her by seeing how her scales are stretched. Best of luck w/ eggs, incubation and the hatchlings.

I love the light coloration on that girl.
I also love the hatchlings from you. They are great eaters and beautiful snakes. Thanks again.
Best of luck

Alright John

I know what you mean when you say uncomfortable. Mine and Gregg's Lineaticollis is gravid and she is in her pre-laid shed now. Were cossing our fingers for fertile eggs.
