I wish I still had this girl !

DMong Apr 05, 2008 08:15 PM

This was in my opinion, the nicest looking 50/50 Cal. King in the entire 1996 Reptile Expo when it was held in Orlando.

I spent the entire afternoon on a specific venture, searching for a 50/50 with the widest snow-white(no beige), the blackest "jet-black(no brown), whitest belly(not cream colored), and lightest colored skin between the scales. After about five hours or so of searching and comparing, I went back to the guys table, and got this girl.....what a screamer she was!

When she was old enough, I bred her to an awesome male I had, that looked quite comparable to her as well. The offspring that were produced were out of this world!.........a good friend of mine that stopped by my house to look at some to possibly buy, said,..."man, these are probably the sweetest 50/50's I've ever seen". This guy knew what he was talking about too, he saw Cal. Kings ALL the time, he even headed the reptile dept. at a very knowledgeable specialty pet store that I used to live by.

Well, I guess this very long shpeel is really about me wishing I still had her,......what a beauty she was,....and I had to go and sell her years ago!...GRRR!

thanks for reading this long drawn out story!..LOL!

Wow! I'm guessing that is an untouched pic. The white really jumps out at you. Nice Cal!

Man you aren't kidding. She was a beauty and hopefully still is.
I know what you mean about wishing you had her back. I find myself thinking about the one I used to have way too often. Randy W.

Wow! Beautiful snake, and cool little back history behind her. Now, of course the question begs to be asked; have you still got some of her offspring? At least one? If so, please bless us w/ a pic.

Ya Know,......that does really IRK the heck out of me that I don't have any pics of those hatchlings they produced!. My 35mm wasn't working at the time, and back then, not everyone walked around with a quality digital camera like it is today, they were quite expensive then too!....GRRR!

But I'll try to dig up a pic of the other male parent from somewhere, I know I have one somewhere.

And unfortunately, I didn't keep any of the babies either,.....isn't that the way it often works?,.....you get rid of stuff, and later on you wish you didn't!,.....this stuff happens all the time..LOL!,......oh well,....I guess that's part of life!

No locality info on what the lineage was exactly on that girl. I don't even have the old snake records of that one , because it got crashed in an old hard-drive. I remember the vendors face, but can't place his name for the life of me...GRRR!

BTW, thanks for the compliment!
