Escaped gecko

ryuman1 Apr 06, 2008 11:22 AM

I returned from a vacation saturday and found that one of my leopard geckos was missing. My father said he was there friday.(my father then left out of town) So the gecko has had as much as a day to run around my house. Any suggestions to find him? i have cricket containers set in several rooms hoping to attract him but it hasn't worked.

WHAT I DID WHEN MY LEOS WERE OUT... my cat got into the room and opened the tank and got 2 leos out....on different days.... i used plastic soda bottles... cut the top off and stuffed the bottle with moistened moss after a few hours i found them in the "humid hides" also a lil plastic bottle with holes and mealies and crix inside... havent tried that, but my leos get excited when they see the mealies and crickets moving around. hope something has helped you

Most reptiles will look for warm hides... try under the refrigerator, under warm appliances (like the computer), and even under his own cage... a lot of people find snakes under their 'under tank heater.'

Thanks for the suggestions. I did tear apart my refridgerator looking for him. And looked around my computer. I was searching last night with the lights off with a flashlight. My parents were getting mad that i wouldn't go to sleep. I finally stopped and as i was walking past my parents bedroom. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a dark lump in fromt of the baseboard. I figured I'd look one last place. Then it moved and I knew it was him. I can't believe i found him like that. And I'm kind of disappointed I didn't get to find where he was hiding.
But I am relieved to have found him
And thanks for the suggestions.

put out water, your gecko will die of dehydration before starvation. look in all the moist warm spots, behind the refrigerator maybe and if you find it, get a better lid!
