veiled vet visit

smcallister Aug 29, 2003 01:16 PM

Ok, I just got back from the vet and good news, everything is ok with my veiled!! She said he was very healthy but looked a little thin so now I gotta start making him fatter.

I have another question abought UVB lighting. I have an ESU Daylight which emits 3% UVB. Is that enough???

No, it is very marginal at best. If you prefer a fluorescent tube light (no heat but in some ways easier and safer in terms of burns) use a ReptiSun 5.0. This brand has consistently rated better in terms of UV emitted. You need to change the bulbs about every 6 months, as testing shows the UV output drops a lot after that. More people are trying the incandescent heat/UV bulbs but I haven't as my chams tend to be montane species who don't want the heat. I don't know that much about which seem to be better. These can get hot and cause burns if not used correctly, they are touchy, seem to be easily damaged, and pretty expensive, but some folks swear by them.
