To make a leo less skiddish you just hold it more often. he will calm down as he becomes used to beiing held.

but what do you do if your gecko doesnt like to be held at all? I can't get my girl used to more handling if she doesnt do it period. I've picked her up a few times to move her in and out of her cage for things, and last time she actually waited a little bit before she started to squirm. I've done the lay my palm thing down and let her crawl into it, but instead of crawling into it she looks for any possible way around my hand.

She just turned 4 months, so I dont know if she is still considered a baby in the fact that she still might be naturally skittish. I'll guess I'll just keep trying.

I would take your leo out, and place them on your bed or on you but make sure u are in a good spot tso if they jump off it will be a soft spot to land on. I first started to take my leos out and put them on my bed and let them run around and get use to the smells and room. There are occasions whne the squirm and stuff but they are picky and not always wanting to get messe with. It takes time and patients.

I agree. I think that is a great idea. What he could also do is just to put his hand under the leo's head and let it lick his hand.(or even just put his hand in the cage for a while.) It will eventually get get used to his scent and might calm down. It might just be the leo's personality. Some leo's just don't like to be touched. Blizzards are like that. I hope the leo gets calmer.

thanks for the advice. I'm excited to get her on the bed and see what happens.

if it is a baby, it will calm down over time. with adults, you have to get them used to your hands by handfeeding them their mealworms and crickets. this way, they won't be so frightened.

Our little guy (had him 2 weeks) is SLOWLY warming up to us. The following are things that seem to have really helped:
1. Do NOT push him to be held if he isn't willing.
2. Do NOT disturb him when he's in his hide.
3. Hand feed him mealworms (this was Cleos suggestion and it has been really helpful to us.)
4. Don't grab at him or pick him up, just put your hand flat in the cage and let him crawl on it. He seems more willing when our hand is palm-side DOWN.
5. Be patient. My daughter was really getting discouraged (When will he like me?) but he is now getting more and more friendly.
