must be something in the water I use!

jimfmcdonald Apr 06, 2008 11:10 PM

This was one of my best weekends ever! not only did I get a clutch from my Dorbignyi tri-color hognose and two from my Pulcher tri-color hognose. but also my first clutch of Laticincta rat snake eggs and a 2nd clutch form my Coxi rat snake. (hope its ok to post the rat snakes on here as well?) now with a little luck I may get a 2nd clutch from my Vailianti rat snake in a week or two and maybe another from the Laticincta in a few months as well. it was a GREAT weekend!!

PS I will be selling my Lake Elsinore tap water by the gallon as of this weekend! ($500.00 a gallon)
call or email if interested.

great stuff Jim, do you chance it and leave the water dishes in with close to drop females? very risky if you ask me.
Anyway, it was a great weekend and can't wait to see all the cool babies.

I know lot of people say they have had them lay their eggs in the water bowl but I have never had a snake do this to me as of yet so maybe I am just lucky! I do monitor them closely though and almost always catch them in the process as opposed to after they are done. Thanks.

This morning I found a total of 18 good eggs from two different pulcher females-including 10 from my big female black bicolor! It's a good week for tricolors!

do you use nesting boxes? have you notice any difference in there laying habits without a box? thanks robert

jimfmcdonald Apr 19, 2008 05:28 PM

I use nest boxes for some of my snakes that like to use them. but I have found that the hog nose snakes I have never seem to use them so now I just dont bother. I dont notice any difference in there laying habits without a box, they do great!
