It had been foggy and cold (high 40's) with periods of rain all day. I set out tonight around nine, and by then the temperature had dropped just a bit. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera.
Went up to the one spot I know best, behind a school parking lot on what you could call the nature trail. It follows along a stream where a man made path dams it up into a pond. The first thing I noticed were all of the Wood Frog tadpoles swimming around. I didn't know if any Ambystomids would use the pond to breed, but did see some larvae that resembled Spotted Salamander's. Most of them I saw were all slender and light colored, like stream salamanders.
I did find a few larger individuals and took one home with me. It looks like a Red Salamander, but I am not 100% positive.
There were also a few Green Frogs and one very large Bullfrog that let me pick them up, and a few peepers heard in the distance.
