Does anyone know a source for cheap, clean, plastic buckets with re-useable lids, for use as roach containers? Also, is there a specific sealent or hot-glue to use for attaching screen vents? Thanks!

I don't know anything about raising roaches, so I do NOT know what size bucket you need. Have you considered the 5 quart buckets of cheaper quality ice cream, after you eat the ice cream, and wash the buckets? Or buckets that resturant condiments come in?

There are several ways to house Roaches.
A 5 gallon will soon be over crowded for most species.
You can buy rubbermade tubs, plastic garbage cans and so on.
I would not suggest 5 gallon buckets though.

Mike is right. When I bred Hissers I fed off about 100 a day to my chickens and rats just to try and keep the population down and they still over crowded a 35 gallon Rubbermaid tub. I even gave only fruit for moisture to see if it would slow down their reproduction. I live in the desert so the fruit gave them very little humidity to breed. But they still bred like crazy. My monitor wouldn't eat them dead but the chickens would. If your animals eat them dead then you can feeze some to keep the population down. Maybe, for hissers in 5 gallon buckets, 2 felmales with one male would work. You would have to have tight population control.
