Genetics Question Striped

cowtownherper Aug 29, 2003 02:21 PM

Im confused on the genetics for striped. I have an amel het for striped. She is the only corn I have with this gene. What are the odds of this coming out if I breed her to a snake without it?

If you breed a snake het for stripe to a normal snake that is not het for stripe, you will never see stripes in the F1s.

If you want to get a striped snake in your offspring, then breed your het striped snake to another het striped snake and you'll have a chance at it.

Kat is right. You will never get stripes in the f1 generation if the snake she is bred to does not express or carry stripe. If i were you i would get an amel, snow, caramel, or anery stripe or motley to breed to your amel het stripe. or any other morph that expresses or is het for the stripe or motley genes
