Yellow ATB growing up

AbsoluteApril Apr 07, 2008 05:25 PM

This is Cosette, an '06 ATB I got locally in craigslist about 6 months ago. She is starting to get a pattern and more orange. The orange striping is very faint and only near the tail. Her belly is almost clear except for a few random dark specs on the back half. It's neat to see her change, I had no idea ATBs changed so much!
These pics were taken about 2 days after she shed. I'm happy to say I didn't get nailed once, she's usually very snappy.

This is her cage, BARRs cage. When I snapped this pic, I had forgotten to put the cross bar back in there. It's not what you would think of as an ideal ATB cage with the large perches, but her and my other ATB that used to be in this cage use them all the time. She's peeking around on the bottom left perch.

What do you think? Will she get more orange? More speckles?
Thanks for looking!

I like the Barrs cages. How are you heating them.

I'm just using a heating pad under half the cage. I keep the ambient temps in my snake room 75-78 during the day and 70 at night.

The color changes and pattern growth are just about complete. The pattern may get a bit darker, and grow in SLIGHTLY more, but that's about it.

I linked a page with a photgraphic sample of how color/pattern changes over the first 18 months...

Thanks for the link Mike! Very interesting!
I hope she stays close to how she is now, I guess only time will tell, and that's part of the fun.

Hey April,

First off let me say that she is georgous! I think that her pattern will definately intensify and you can see orange as an underlying color so I think this will come out more also and it may be a dark orange. Beautiful animal!

Thanks Matt! I wouldn't mind the orange coming out more, although I do hope the pattern doesn't get *too* dark. I was lucky to get her, just happened to be checking craigslist and there she was.
