Fickle boas and their hide boxes

AbsoluteApril Apr 07, 2008 06:02 PM

I use different things in my large boas cages from time to time, just to change things up and give them new things to explore. Some of my boas absolutely love hides and others could care less. I put soda boxes and such since they are cheap and can be thrown away as soon as they get dirty or crushed. I've got two boas that instantly crush these boxes as soon as they get in. I've got two others, same size, that never crush them and instead crawl right in and make themselves at home. It's always the same ones. I just thought it was interesting. Time to try something new with these ones! I think she is telling me she is not a fan of root beer.

crumble some loose newspaper up and make a tent, some crush that and others go under it, also try a kitty litter box, a bit stronger.

She likes the crumbled newspaper or when I put sheets in there, crawls right under the sheets and wraps herself up tight. For some reason she just doesn't like traditional hides, I've tried rubbermaids with a notch cut out, half-logs, all sorts of things. It's fun to try different things and see how some show preference.
Take care,
April
