building infested

caddisfly04 Apr 07, 2008 07:15 PM

How do you get a snakes out of a building. A local day care seems to be infested with bull snakes and garters. Is there a way to get them out? Do those snake sticky traps work?

thanks

You're going to get some serious hate mail about those sticky traps. They make funnel traps that wont harm the snake. Or just do it the old fashioned (and more fun) way of grabbing them and moving them out by hand. Call your local pet store that has reptiles. I bet you'll find someone there who would jump at the chance to come out and get them for free.

better yet, since it is spring the snakes may disperse. maybe the foundation of the building was a hibernaculum.

Dang. What I would give for an "infested" building with garters and bulls... lol! Where are you located??

Here's the deal. I'm going to have to be very general in my description hopefully you will understand why as I continue. I live on and work on a native reservation and snakes are considered evil. They are basically going to shut the building down and demolish it within the next couple of months. It's an old building but still somewhat usefull. I suspect most of the snakes will be gone within a couple weeks due to it being I suspect a hibernation area. I was hoping for a repellant that could be used to maybe save the building but it's pretty much a done deal that it's going to be demolished. Nothing can save it at this point.

I'm starting to think that my teenage son can make some money removing snakes from buildings.

Thanks for the suggestions
