Black snake skin; how to preserve??

nhawlman Aug 29, 2003 02:38 PM

I found a Perfect shed Black snake skin; 81-1/2" long!
How can I display it on a cabin wall so it will not deteriorate?

I have the very first shed from my first snake in a frame on the wall. Of course, it was much smaller than the one you found.
My wife is a custom picture framer, so it was easy and cheap.
To have a shed that size framed would be a bit pricy, but it would look cool and last if done right. Duffy

I do presentations at my daughters school and have given them 1 shed from each type of snake I own (as well as some I don't own.) What she does is laminate them (She has one laminated that is from my 8 1/2' Columbian red tail boa. It looks pretty impressive and the kids can't rip it apart. I also gave her some other skins that she uses to hand around so the kids can get an idea what they actually feel like. The problem with this is you either need to find a shop that laminates large objects or have a machine large enough to do it yourself (you'll also need the roll type lamination.) Good luck, Scott.
