Pueblan vs. Corn

dodgedakota09 Apr 07, 2008 09:14 PM

I have a cali. king right now and love him... really good snake, he isn't too shy and moves around his cage often making him a good viewing snake...

I'm lookin to get either a Pueblan Milk. or a Corn snake... I'm leanin' toward a pueblan but I'm wonderin' which snake is more active...

Basically (and i know everyone has their own opinions) what snake is better?

Milks tend to be very shy and secretive. I have a number of Pueblans and Hondurans. The Hondos never come out during the day, but the Pueblans sometimes do. I wouldn't say they're a big display animal, but I do enjoy them a great deal. My Hondurans often watch me while I work, so I see all these little masked faces peering out at me. And I do have a large female Pueblan that moves around alot. She's beautiful. It's more like a treat to see them out and about. Personally, I prefer Pueblans to corns, but they may not be the choice for you as a display animal.
Here's one of my Pueblans (she's much bigger now), and a couple posts down are some pics of my new hypo from earlier this evening.

I was basically on the edge fallin toward the pueblan and your pictures of your snakes and your comment welcomely knocked me over the edge... Plus it seems like everyone has a corn snake but I haven't seen many people with a pueblan...

here's a pic. of my cali. king shes still real small not even a year yet... she's about 16-18 inches...

That's a nice little Cali you have there.

My little apricot Pueblan in the picture came from Don Shores.
Best of luck whichever snake you decide on.

That is a nice looking Cal King! I prefer Pueblans to Corn Snakes, but that is just me. I've got nothing against the Corns, and in fact many of them are quite stunning. Just not my cup of tea.

Now, as for the Pueblans... how can you not like them!

I am an "old" man who got back into snakes once my oldest son started showing interest. The first snake I got was an apricot pueblan. To me, they and the hondos are the prettiest milks. Since then I got him a mate as well as five other snakes, including a normal corn. Both pueblans are a little skittish and still will musk me once in a while. But they are excellent feeders and seem to get prettier each shed.
