Problem with black king

SDeFriez Apr 07, 2008 11:26 PM

I've got a female black king, have had her for about three years, she was WC. When I went to feed my snakes, I noticed what looked like a small black worm hanging out the side of her mouth. Took her in my bathroom and pulled the fluke out. The inside top and sides of her mouth are full of these flukes. Anyone know what they are, where they came from and how to get rid of them? She's going to the vet tomorrow. Thanks!

Scott,.....

There are a number of Nematodes, and Trematodes(flukes) that invade the mouth, and upper respiratory regions of wild kingsnakes. However, these can easily be taken care of by a qualified reptile vet these days. Try to get a fresh stool sample as well if at all possible to take to the vet when you go, just in case there may be some other issues along with the obvious worms in the mouth.

You are DEFINITELY doing the right thing by taking the snake to the vet ASAP,........way to go!,........I wouldn't be able to sit still with that for a second either.
