my BCI's are still at it. Stronger than ever actually but I think that was spurred on by a couple of meals after I hadn't fed them for a couple of months due to anticipated breeding.
I've STRONGLY revised my stance on feeding during breeding season this year just because of the increase in activity 2 days after feeding (which is when I reintroduce them) and for weeks after. Just so there's no confusion, I feed much smaller meals during courtship. For example, if I normally feed a 240 gram (XL) rat, I'll give an 80 gram (medium) rat instead.
If you notice a lull (a couple of days) in the activity and it's not because she's swelling and has ovulated, throw each animal a very small meal, give a day and a half to two days to digest and put them back together! Take precautions though to ensure they don't mistake each other for food because the smell of rat is all over their body from biting and wrapping it up. I take a spray bottle and hose 'em down (which can also stimulate breeding activity in and of itself).
