Perhaps this is related to my last question about temperatures... when should I be alarmed about my hatchlings behavior? I have 3 2-month old hatchlings from different bloodlines - 1 male and 2 females. Puff, Lizzy, and Max - please don't tease me about the names
I think Puff might be getting dominated although the signs are conflicting. A few of the behaviors -
- Puff is a bit smaller than the other female Lizzy
- Puff is about 2/3 the size of the male Max
- Puff eats less
- On the bright side she is much easier to handle - perhaps she is scared but she is quite docile in our hands
- Puff climbs a lizard ladder to the highest point in the cage (wouldn't that be a sign that she is the boss?)
- Max likes to lay on top of Puff
- I found Max and Lizzy in a wierd position. Puff was on her back with her arms rapped around Lizzy who was face down on her. Looked kinda kinky. I was worried they were fighting.
- Max is the only one who arm waves - wouldn't that be submission on his part?
- Puff does not like to eat alone - I tried to seperate her but she only likes to eat in the regular cage - even if its less.
- I once found Puff sleeping upside down and hanging from the top screen.
With all that said occassionally Puff comes out of her shell. Last night she ate a bunch more than usual and actually looked to be strutting her stuff. Was on top of the pile, was knocking Lizzy and Max around for crickets - even though there was plenty around. But then later Lizzy seemed to be trying to pull her off of the top of the lizard ladder.
Is this all childish games or do I have to start worrying about seperating these kids? How does the stacking on the basking spot work - top is the leader? What about the arm waving?
any help would be appreciated
thanks
