Should I use de-chlorinated water?

Miller_Time Apr 08, 2008 02:39 PM

I have some freshwater aquarium water conditioner to remove chlorine, choloramine, and heavy metals - I use this to treat the water for a hermit crab enclosure. Is this safe to use for the drinking and bathing water for BDs too? I don't like the thought of bathing them in chlorinated water, and since this is safe for fish I would think so, but wanted to be sure.

On the other hand, is it worth doing? Is there any real danger from using tap water as drinking/bathing/misting water?

personally i wouldnt use the drops for misting because.... the drops leave a salty residue when it dries and its kinda hard to get off... i'm sure if you use it in your fish tank you have seen, or will see a salty residue when the water evaporates... try using distilled or spring water for misting.... regular chlorinated water leaves specks... but distilled and spring dont...

Sorry - I guess I wasn't explaining that clearly I dechlorinate water by the gallon and keep it in water jugs to use.

As drinking and bathing water for bearded dragons, it won't harm them to use the aquarium de-chlorinator stuff. I really don't think its necessary though with bearded dragons. A brita filter will do the same and I expect, in the long run, costs less, though maybe not for large volumes of water.

As you are already de-chlorinating water for your hermit crabs, if you want to use some to bathe your dragon in or provide drinking water, it should be fine.

It is more important to de-chlorinate the water for amphibians than reptiles for the most part.
