I didn't breed that one because he's an anery and my girls where anerys so i breed the non-anery hyper to his anery sister that has a tail stripe. so hopeful it will prove out to genetic. Im pretty sure it is though I have produce 3 anery hyper and one normal hyper but they are all males. two in 04 and 2 in 06 with a couple that came real close to being hypers blacker then normal but and had heavy black wash to them but not the full body black. there is the normal male hyper that I used this year. only 70 somedays then another 6 months for the colors to start coming in so not long to wait. man I hate waiting!!!!
I am with you Andy. I love the Black ones!

I think all the West Coast boas from North to South originated from a common genetic ancestor. Not quite sure if occidentalis is contiguous (in contact) with ortoni, but I believe it is with amarali.
Amarali is the intermediate between occidentalis, ortoni, imperitor; as well as an intermediate between constrictor, imperitor and occidentalis.
That's just my personal feeling on it. Would love to do some genetic research to find out if my theory has merit.

fun thing is some of the pics of Paraguan boas labeled as BCA's look like occidentalis intergrades to me the pic of Paraguan boas on pg 55 of the living boas screams intergrade to me. (never see in in the wild so i could be wrong) BC ortoni is know to intergrade with longi's on the west and BCC on the east and giving how same their range is are ortoni real just intergrades of BCC and BCL's? all the pics of true ortoni that I have seen (not the Peruvian redtail some one has mislabeled) are heavy patterned brown on brown snakes i don't think they will ever be imported. which sucks cause I really want one! ok I really really want 3.6 so i can breed them . I need some Nebulosa and orophias two. dont know why the only boas I don't want to work with is BCC give my the weird dark species.
I agree entirely. Very interesting stuff.
That's exactly where my bona fide locality interests lie.
One of these days I'm going down there to see for myself.
You want to go?
