Outdoor dragon cage

JeffK Apr 08, 2008 03:50 PM

i am looking to build an outdoor bearded dragon cage that i can take my dragons out in to get some real uvb. i have quite a few questions but pics would be really helpful. i want to know if chicket wire would be a good bottom or should i go with something else. they will only be outside for anout 1-2 hours. so im not looking to spend an arm and a leg just something so they can get some fresh air.

How about making a window box ( make it come out 2 or 3 feet from the window, put some stilts to support the box hanging out the window ) and attach that to your standard cage design... make a doggie door or in this case... a dragon door... that you can lock them in at night... I can rough draw you something up if your interested...

all of my dragons are in aquariums and i would like to have a cage that i can take them out during the day. the rooms that they are kept in have no windows.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

A nice-sized horse water trough works very well. Some of them sell for only about 20-30 bucks (plastic ones are just fine) and put some kiddie play sand in the bottom. I've actually seen people make one into a permanent home for a dragon. Just get one with 3-4 foot high sides, and don't put the play sand too deep. The smooth plastic walls are impossible for a dragon to climb. I'd let Charley out in one here, but I have to be out there watching him the whole time. We have hawks and I doubt they'd pass up a nice big lizard meal. ^_^

You could even go with just a "muck bucket" which they sell in walmart or target for five bucks each. (Large bucket, rope handles, 2-3 feet deep. I use one for my kids toys)
