What does it take...

I am curious... what are the laws or permits required in Georgia to own a few venomous snakes (such as a rattler or two) and what does it take to get these? I'm not interested in breeding them just having as some what of an "exotic" pet...

Before you accuse, NO i don't have any all i have is two iguanas and a california king snake... after getting the snake I've found my new passion and was just curious about the subject...

any and all information would be great thx...

In Georgia, it is legal to keep NATIVE venomous snakes...As far as exotic (i.e. not native to the state of Georgia), you will need a permit and ALOT of liability insurance...good luck.

Well i dont know anything about Gergias law but I do have a few questions. How many snakes have you owned in your life? Have you ever delt with any rattlesnakes in the wild before? And do you know exactly what the potential consequences are for keeping venomous snakes? And no I have never actualy kept a venomous snake before (i will be by the end of this year amd you will get alot more replies if you make sure that everyone knows that you know what your doing and that your fit to keep a venomous snake.Sorry if I wasted your time, just felt the need to say that.

azatrox is right ...native venomous snakes are legal. You might consider going to some of the reptile shows in Georgia and talk to the Ga DNR guys. Also the vendors are very helpful. By the way, that is a nice Cal King pic.
