Weird stuff on mouth

mike3 Aug 29, 2003 03:52 PM

I am not sure what it is but i am pretty sure it is not mouth rot. Well there is a littel cut in my small females mouth on her inside gum. A week later all of this yellow brown stuff started to apear around it. It does peal of but there is still some on the cut that i cant get. it seems to keep on comming back and now my females mouth is slightly oped at the middle. I cant go to a vet because the nearest vet that takes in reptiles is 4 hours away. Should i put Neosporin (sp) on it or any other thing like that. Other than that she seems healthy.

PS i know this sounds weird but ever since i got my saharan male of of my saharan females have actually brightened up a lot. My biggest female Flame could actually pass for a young male because she is just so darn colorful. she is just as colorful as douglas dix's breeding stock females. And the small female with the mouth actually looks like a young male. She will be amazing when she gets older. I am really looking forward to breeding them this year.

Is this stuff almost like crusty kinda? Almost looks like they have sand stuck to her mouth?

I had a very similar problem with my mali. Turned out he had a vitamin deficiency. So I had to up his vitamins on his food and make sure he got enough variation of veggies. It wasn't from my lack of care, but he had been really really sick with a piece of food that was stuck in his intestine for about a month or so. I had to force feed him for 2 months before it finally passed. But then he wouldn't eat at all from all the stress of being sick.
He's doing great now tho. Just took a long time for it to settle (his stomach) and now seems much healthier since i got his vitamins up to par.

Maybe give Doug Dix a call and ask him for any suggestions.
good luck!

is it puss? or is it like hard and crusty?? if it's hard and crusty then use neosporin, it takes a long time but it will eventually fade. ricky had it real bad but it's almost gone now. he's a picture of ricky where you can see the crustiness

It is not that crusty or that color it is more moist and is a brownish yellow color. Inside the mouth it seems to by by a cut. Should i put neosporon on the lip, or is it toxic. If i put neosporan all over the lips and kinda in the mouth on the upper gum would that help or would that do more harm than good. it seems like there is a cut in the upper lip and brown/yellow moist tissue is around it. it pealso off. I think it might be scar tissue or something like that. All i want to know is if i put neosporan on it will it do anything. It is on the upper gum inside the mouth but the stuff creeps outside of the mouth. It is very hard to explain.

thats a tough call, and since i'm not a vet, i couldn't tell you. it sounds like a cut that got infected. i think maybe you should try to clean out the mouth with water as much as possible

I am going to give her a warm bath and see if that helps her mouth at all then i am going to wait for a week and see if it clears up and then i am going to put neosporan on it and see if that helps.
