sorry for the caps but I was so excited i couldn't help it. was doing some work out in the back yard, flipped over a board (hoping) and there he was. wasn't sure what i had at first, but it wasn't a copperhead (the only venomous snake native to my area) so i picked him up had had a look brown on top pink on bottom, a little wiggly at first but settled down pretty fast. put him in a container with a little damp moss (close to the conditions i found him in) and did some research. eastern worm snake it turns out. not as exciting as a king or a rat but its my first so i'm happy none the less. gonna try to get some pictures and let the little feller go later today. don't see any reason to keep him. he should be fine for a few hours in a 4 cup container with a tight lid (with air holes of course, don't you think? he is only about a 1/4 inch wide and 8 inches long.
cheers
Mike
