weird rescue

coutureleolvr21 Apr 10, 2008 11:47 AM

while i was at work yesterday, i had a lady talk to me about her leo, bc she was looking for a new home for him. she said she didnt have time for him, felt he was being neglected and could only feed him once a week ect, that he was getting skinny... she was saying how she hated to give him up and they didnt want to give him to just anyone. well, she brought him to me and i opened the box he was in and i was totally shocked. he is the biggest leo i have ever seen. hes very healthy (looking) has an ungodly fat tail, nice disposition. hed been to the vet to be sexed and checked over years ago. hes 7, and looks to be just a really high and bright yellow normal. im having computer/camera issues, so i cant post a pic. if every "neglected" animal looked this good we wouldnt need rescues! come to find out she felt he was being neglected bc they couldnt take him out twice a day, because they couldnt play enough music for him (yea i know, but aparently he dances?) and some other random reasons. just thought it was kinda odd, and i was very pleasently supprised by how un-neglected he looks. anyone else had this experience?

Nothing like that, but a few days ago i recieved a juvi leo from a lady who was having problems with it. it's extremely skinny and i've had to force feed it.

Also, i found this pretty funny: I was at petco getting crickets for my Frilled Lizard, and what do i see on the floor??

A baby leo! lol.

So i pick him up and put him in my pocket.

One more leo saved from petco! lol :]

Hm, I suppose that could technically be considered to be theft, but I'm betting the ASPCA would be on your side - prevention of abuse and all that...

I "rescued" a Green Anole from That Pet Place. I had her in my hands the whole way home because it was cold. I opened them up when I got home and guess what, she laid an egg! It later hatched but didn't make it because the mom wasn't very big herself.. But it was a great thing!

yea, i find it interesting to hear peoples stories about rescues. i guess mine technically was a "rescue" but i still found it strange since she said she was neglecting it. o well. better that situation than another one right?
