My Babies

barrel_racer Aug 29, 2003 05:07 PM

I found a disturbed box turtle nest on the back of my property about 3 weeks ago. There were 3 eggs laying completely uncovered in direct sunlight, I figured they didn't stand a chance outside so I brought them in. I put them in my incubater (plastic shoebox sitting on a heating pad) and pretty much forgot about them. A week after I got them I went to make sure they were still moist and saw two little faces looking back at me! Anyway, to end an obviously long story here they are! Look at all that color!

what state are you in? Are these baby easterns?
Feet kind of looked like 3 toeds, but markings look more like easterns.

These babies have only 3 toes on their back feet. I live in southeast louisiana. We find a lot of intergrades as well as some full blown 3 toed in the area. Just the other day I caught a really stunning male 3 toed about two blocks from my house. If you have any more ?'s just ask, I do go to school during the day but I will eventually get back online.
