Eddie's Shedding again. ^_^

Hollychan Apr 10, 2008 08:43 PM

I just went to check on him tonight and he's definitely ready to shed. He had pooped in his water bowl, so I'm betting he was soaking in it, then got out when he pooped. I filled his second dish with water and cleaned his poopy one, then refilled it with fresh water. Last time he shed for me it was in his natural terrarium which has high humidity anyway. I think he'll be fine this time too, afterall, I'm in Florida. ^_^

I was looking back through my spreadsheet on him and it was less than a month ago when he shed last. For a less-than-year-old snake, is it about average for them to shed roughly once a month?

Frequency: That sounds about right to me. I just started keeping a spreadsheet a short time ago, and the only snake who has shed twice since I started tracking it is the youngest, Dexter. 2/22 and 3/27, so a little over a month between sheds. The bigger ones have slowed their shed frequency quite a bit, but I just don't know by how much yet.

Holly,........In a word, yes, a young snake on a good healthy feeding schedule, that is quite typical. Sounds like he's growing well!
