my recently rescued leo

c0de7477 Apr 10, 2008 11:14 PM

Ok, i had recently rescued a sick leo from a lady, who didn't really know what she was doing i guess.

anyways, i took it from her to try and nurse it back to health.

Here is it's status:

-It is EXTREMELY skinny.
-It won't eat.
-I have to force feed it this formula stuff through a syringe.
-It's poop is runny, and smells REALLY REALLY BAD.

But, the funny thing is, it acts normal. It's alert, and active. It's actually more active than my other leo.

The poop looks a lot like the formula i'm feeding it. So could the smell be coming FROM the formula?

I'm not quite sure.

-So far i've had the little guy for 3 days now, and i've noticed a little difference. I got him to eat 1 wax worm (that's all he's eaten so far).

It's a gorgeous SHTCTB, and i would really really hate to see this leo get worse.

Any comments or suggestions would be very much appreciated!

it looks extremely skinny.... make sure you keep him away from your other herps and try to keep him on paper towels so you can see if his feces gets better or worse. mealies an other worms are pretty high in fat so try to keep some around all the time. also, try force feeding some calcium.... it might make him pep up a lil more. as for the stinky... i have no clue... i'd say probably the stuff your feeding it

id take him to the vet to make sure hes ok...sometimes vitamin shots are givin when theyre that skinny. i think the vet would be your best bet, and i bet he'll be a looker when he gets better.sometimes they need that extra help from medicines we dont have at our disposal

when my leo was sick and i force feed it this fluker's formula it pretty much came out looking like it went in and smelled Really Really Bad to but i just guessed it was because the gecko was sick but i don't really know for sure what it was,

anyway, i hope he/she gets better!
