Pueblan MIlk Egg Laying Problem????

Briansreps Apr 11, 2008 08:16 AM

Hi all,
This is my first attempt with an egg-laying snake. My female apricot pueblan(3 yr old) had her pre-lay shed last weekend (Saturday). When I woke up and checked her tub yesterday morning, I noticed one egg in her lay box (vermiculite & sphagnum). I gently palpated her and there are SEVERAL more eggs apparently still in there. The one egg she did lay appears to be a slug (yellow and wet), she is cruising around her tub constantly, in and out of the lay box. My questions are, is this common behavior to lay one, and then the rest will follow sometime soon?, at what point do I have to worry about egg-binding?, and am I just being very impatient? Any and all help is appreciated!
Thanks

it is very common for them to lay a slug or two the day they shed or withing a few days after.Don't mess with her and she should give you a good clutch in a few more days.It has only been 6 days and thats on the early end of things. Its usually around 10 so wait till its hit about 15 before geting to excited.

The sluggs usually come first in a good clutch or at the end.

no prob, just glad you didn't stress her out by trying to palpate them out thinking she was bound up.

Good job,
