Keeping 2 milksnakes

kirokiro Apr 11, 2008 12:47 PM

Hiya,

I do not own any milksnakes but would like to ask if there's any problem keeping 2 equal sized baby milksnakes together - 1 male and 1 female.

Would like to know of anyone here who has done so as well. Thanks and look forward to seeing the replies. Thanks!

I've done it, but they were clutchmates (a bunch). And really, I see no point. I did it just to experiment. From a husbandry standpoint, it was not easier to house them together. The cage got dirty faster and I had to watch things at feeding time. I learned that it can be done (even with Cal kings) but there is no benefit to doing so for me or them.

I think communal housing requires some experience with keeping snakes, and it sounds like you do not have that experience yet.

My advice is to keep them separate. It is far easier to do so for some very good reasons.

Yeah, as you mentioned it "can" be done, but for the price of a 3 to 5 dollar plastic shoebox container, I also don't see any reason at all to do so.

i agree that it is not a good idea to house two milksnakes in the same enclosure as a few years back i had a pair of lousiana milksnake in the same enclosure i would feed them seperatly and wait to put them back together but once after being put back the other started to stalk the other and grabbed it by the head good thing i was there or i believe one would have eaten the other on killed it after that i keep my snakes seperate.
