Well Thelma had 3 eggs here is a picture of two of them can you tell me if they are viable eggs and what my next step should be??
Weeeee, eggs after three years of no eggs and from Thelma who didn't brumate this year either. At least now I know that Clyde is functional lol, if you know what I mean.

D'oh, in all the excitement I forgot that Thelma was one of the girls I bought from Onthefly, thanks Cecil.

WAY TO GO CLYDE, we were all worried about ya, hehehehheee !

Hope all goes well buddy, I know how EGGCITING it is, never stops being awesome,

Yeah, the one in the front has the pinkish hue, the one inback looks to be okay too , but is hidden somewhat, just incubate these guys get your deli cup or plastic sandwich container with some dampened vermiculite and try and place them pretty much the way you found them, or pink side up.

I usually incubate in the 84ish range, just don't let them fall under low 70's or go above 90

AWESOME, congratulations, give that Clyde a handshake, lol

Hehe thanks Eve, I have a small critter keeper and still had a container of vermiculite stored away just in case of such a day.
Well Thelma managed to squeeze one out while she was sequestered from the cage so I could remove them, so I have three viable ones and a possible fourth one. They are store in my laundry room as it was the warmest place that I could think of, ummm, plus the only place I don't think my wife wouldn't get the willies from knowing they were there lol. It is/was going up to 88 today with 90's for the next two and low 70's for the next week. We keep the house 75 prety much year round, is that ok?? or is it better towards the 80's??

PHEve Apr 12, 2008 08:38 AM

Well 75 is kind of low, but I think it will work, just will take a much longer time to hatch, I try and keep them atleast 83 at the lowest. Don't let it drop lower though, does not give you much wiggle room so to speak .

Save your pennies and get yourself an incubator , hehehehe, it's easier. They are good when the air conditioning comes on too, as we keep it set at about 72 for cooling the house, and it works out fine,.... the incubator has to be put into a room where the temps are kept "lower" than what you need to use (the 80's range) in order for it to work right.

Okedoke and thanks Eve.

Ummm now for another question,

"How long does it take for them to lay their eggs??"

The reason why I ask this is that at 10:25 this morning SoCal time she had layed two more eggs, lol.

Well first let me say more congratulations as far as them being so spread out, sometimes it happens in a couple day spread, but more often they just finish in a few hours.

Did you disturb her yesterday while she was in the process ? Maybe you thought she was done but she was not yet and you may have picked her up , moved her, and she did not finished and was stressed. Who knows,

As long as she is fine and the eggs are layed, all sounds good to go... lol
